Australia: Audit Training for the Iraqi Board of Supreme Audit (IBSA) in Australia - Rehabilitation Assistance for Iraq, AusAID/RAFI, 2005 - 06

Australia is currently contributing to the humanitarian and reconstruction needs in Iraq, focusing on niche areas where Australia has particular expertise to offer and in sectors that complement initiatives of the Government of Iraq and other donor agencies. The assistance is provided under a program titled ‘Rehabilitation Assistance Facility: Iraq’ (RAFI) and is funded through AusAID.

AusAID requested that RAFI manage a training course for a select group of delegates from the Iraqi Board of Supreme Audit (IBSA). World Wide, in association with Monash University, was contracted to develop and deliver a 2.5-week program. This involved course design and coordinating appropriate technical content to meet the requirements of the IBSA staff, who had experienced professional isolation for some years under the former regime and international sanctions. World Wide provided technical inputs for the participants’ action planning, conducted the final participant program evaluation, and assisted the delegation with identifying the key lessons and applications in Australian practice that may be applicable to the IBSA. World Wide was responsible for:

  • Arranging and coordinating institutional visits in Canberra and Sydney;
  • Coordinating the input of specialist presenters; preparing comprehensive and focused course materials, tutorials and group/individual case studies for use in the program; and,
  • Coordinating all matters associated with participant care and welfare, and a social program, in Canberra and Sydney.
