China: Australia-China (Chongqing) Vocational Education and Training Project (ACCVETP) Technical Advisory Group Services, AusAID, 2003 - 07

The project promotes reform of China’s VET through innovation at 5 selected Chongqing schools and the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, with successful outcomes supporting VET reform at a national level. Five industry areas and their related VET programs at 5 pilot schools have been targeted: Business Services; Hospitality and Tourism; Automotive; Construction; and Electronics.

The project consists of 4 major components:

  • Component 1: School Based Initiatives (at the 5 Pilot Schools in Chongqing)
  • Component 2: Municipal (Chongqing Based) Initiatives including the Chongqing Normal University
  • Component 3: National Based Initiatives (involving the MOE in Beijing)
  • Component 4: Project Management

The TAG, comprising two members, assists AusAID to assure the quality and timeliness of project implementation, both in Australia and in-country, through:

  • Providing technical advice in relation to project activities, project outputs (including reviewing the milestone outputs, Annual and Training Plans) and advises on the quality and completeness of the project VET and training outcomes;
  • Providing technical advice for the monitoring activities, for the Mid-Term Review and comment the various technical and operational issues that arise in relation to the project implementation; and,
  • Identifying any areas of concern and providing recommendations to AusAID that include problem analysis, alternative strategies and any strategic or operational improvements where necessary.
