Vanuatu: Vanuatu Technical Vocational Education and Training Sector Appraisal/Design Mission, AusAID, 2004 - 05

This design mission completed a review of the range of rural skill needs and the available Government, school and private training facilities in provincial Vanuatu. A project design was developed, with a joint AusAID / Government of France design team. The team visited all provinces and assessed the potential to strengthen skill formation through better use of facilities and increasing the capacity of local trainers and training managers. The joint team developed a LogFrame that covered skill development in the formal and non-formal sectors. This required ongoing liaison with AusAID Post as well as the Vanuatu Institute of Technology, the Vanuatu National Training Council, Regional Training Centres and church / NGO stakeholders. The design team also liaised with senior representatives of the Vanuatu Chiefly system, to gain support and strengthen community commitment to skill formation.
