Indonesia: Legal Reform Program (LRP), AusAID, 2001 - 03

The LRP promoted governance and rule of law in Indonesia through assisting development of functional, transparent, accountable legal institutions. The LRP was accessed by Indonesian Government agencies and Indonesian Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and provided specialist TA, training and institutional development. The LRP Facility funded 30 subprograms with 23 Indonesian partners, comprising Indonesian CSOs, Government Agencies, Independent Commissions and key universities within a strategic sectoral framework developed during the program.

Areas within Indonesia’s legal and judicial sector that were directly supported by the LRP included: Legal Information, Education & Public Participation, Strengthening Legal Institutions, Anti-corruption, Environmental Law, Human Rights, International Treaties and Conventions, and Gender.

World Wide was responsible to AusAID for the implementation of LRP. The Activity proposals were identified with partners and assessed within the specific selection criteria and priorities. Activities were developed & designed using project resources and were funded from an LRP program allocation. The assistance included the development, delivery and monitoring of training and specialist TA across a range of Indonesian partners, Ministries and NGOs, and was also supported by complementary funding from international NGOs and other donors.
