Philippines: Vulnerable Groups Facility (VGF) - Assistance to Department of Education, Culture & Sports (DECS), AusAID, 2000

AusAID established a VGF to increase the basic social services to vulnerable groups. This was achieved by funding targeted Government of Philippines activities that met those needs, but had severe budget limitations. Activities targeted through the VGF are assessed against criteria of poverty, equity and governance, and meet AusAID’s guidelines on environmental impact.

World Wide was responsible for developing the Design Study and Activity Proposals in relation to the delivery of integrated social services to vulnerable groups. This entailed working with a team of local staff at the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Department of Interior and Local Government, and in the Regions. The outcome was the formulation and design of a series of activities to be supported by AusAID under the VGF.
