CAGP working visit successfully completed
World Wide is currently managing the Australian Working Visit on Income Distribution Modelling and Forecasting, a program funded by AusAID under the China Australia Governance Program. The objective of this project is to work with the Employment and Income Distribution Department of the NDRC, and other relevant Chinese agencies, to improve awareness of relevant Australian and Chinese experience and to enable the identification of appropriate institutional arrangements, policy options, and policy tools to effectively address income distribution issues in China.
Delegates representing the NDRC, and a researcher from Beijing Normal University, arrived in Australia on 8 July for ten days, and were involved in intensive workshops under the direction of Team Leader, Dr Simon Kelly, as well as agency site visits and presentations in Canberra and Melbourne.
Of particular assistance to the success of the working visit was the willingness of individual presenters and organisations to participate. All delegates expressed their heartfelt appreciation of the effort that the presenters had taken to provide them with information about income distribution in Australia, and for the knowledge they were able to share on individual experiences.

The delegates (pictured above with Professor Ian Harper, Chair of the Australian Fair Pay Commission; Dr Simon Kelly, Team Leader; Dr Lorraine Corner, Gender Expert; and Amy McLennan, Program Manager) have now safely returned to China, where they will use the information gathered during their time in Australia to refine their thinking in preparing one overall report, as well as individual reports to be presented to each of the individual GoPRC Departments represented.
